Earlier this month, Salem Community Gardens participated in the City of Salem’s annual Living Green Expo.

Living Green Expo
The City of Salem hosted the 3rd Annual Living Green Expo on May 10th and despite the rain many people came out to see the impressive variety of vendors. The tables were full of organizations to educate, provide resources, and offer services related to living as green as possible. Time went quickly so we weren’t able to interact with everyone. There was a little bit for everyone. CSA sign ups to electric car information. Salem Native Nursery brought a large variety of native plants to buy while Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team brought many amazing examples of wildlife that wowed kids and adults alike.

The City of Salem’s Sustainability & Resiliency Department put an impressive amount of hard work into offering the event. They took the lead in making it fun with interactive activities like jeopardy, raffles of a rain barrel and worm farm, and even dressing as a life-sized fan!
Salem Community Gardens
Salem Community Gardens is a nonprofit, volunteer run community garden with 4 locations in Salem, Massachusetts. Our gardens offer space for sustainability, food access, and community care. We offer scholarship plots and welcome diverse gardeners of all ages and experience levels.
We brought plants, seeds, tools, books and my favorite— stickers! We had flyers as well but surprisingly people asked for business cards the most. One of the volunteer board members is already making them in response!
Plants we shared
Violets from Palmer Cove Garden
