Splaine Garden Celebrates Community with New Hand-Painted Bench

Last weekend, Splaine Garden brought gardeners together for a bench design contest and painting party on Saturday, June 6.

The winning design was created by Gigi and Noe, with the theme “Come As You Are.” Their idea was to help make the garden feel welcoming to everyone in our garden community, no matter their background or where they come from.

The bench itself was built by hand by Scott B, and Splaine gardeners joined in to help bring the winning design to life with paint. The result is a colorful new gathering spot that reflects the spirit of the garden: creative, welcoming, and community-minded.

In addition to the bench, gardeners also painted fun new water signs to place in plots when gardeners are away, helping make it easier for neighbors to support one another during the growing season.
